Apple TV Sets First Look Deal With ‘Imperfect Women’ Creator Annie Weisman
Apple TV has set a first look deal with Annie Weisman, creator and showrunner of “Physical” and “Imperfect Women.”
“Imperfect Women” premieres on March 18 and stars Elisabeth Moss, Kerry Washington and Kate Mara as a group of friends whose decades-long relationship is shattered by a crime. Based on Araminta Hall’s novel of the same name, the official logline says that the thriller series “explores guilt and retribution, love and betrayal, and the compromises we make that alter our lives irrevocably. As the investigation unfolds, so does the truth about how even the closest friendships may not be what they seem.”

“Physical” ran on Apple TV for three seasons from 2021 to 2023 and starred Rose Byrne as Sheila Rubin, a 1980s housewife struggling with an eating disorder and marital issues who goes on a self-discovery journey through aerobics.

Before “Imperfect Women,” Weisman served as showrunner and executive producer on Season 2 of “Based on a True Story,” Peacock’s comedic thriller series starring Kaley Cuoco and Chris Messina. She was previously under an overall deal at Universal Television, through which she created and served as showrunner on “Almost Family” at Fox and co-executive produced “The Path” on Hulu. Her other TV credits include “Suburgatory,” “Desperate Housewives,” “Samantha Who,” “Dead Like Me” and “About a Boy.”
Weisman is also a playwright, with credits including the plays “Be Aggressive,” “Hold Please,” “The Essential Alice” and “Surf Report.”
She is repped by WME and Gendler, Kelly & Cunningham.
