Harrison Ford Didn’t Know He Was Humming ‘Indiana Jones’ Theme Song in ‘Shrinking’: ‘I Just Thought It Was Some Familiar Thing’
In a twist that might shock “Indiana Jones” fans, Harrison Ford didn’t actually pick up on most of those easter eggs nodding to the iconic action-adventure franchise sprinkled throughout “Shrinking” Season 3.
During the show’s Apple FYC Event, moderated by Variety’s Emily Longeretta, Ford, who famously starred in the “Indiana Jones” films, was asked how he felt about all the references to it in the third season of the Apple TV drama, including him humming “The Raiders March,” the iconic theme song.

“I actually didn’t know that the melody that I was mouthing was from ‘Indiana Jones,’” Ford shared on the panel, prompting his fellow cast and crew members to break into laughter. “You thought you just made it up?” asked Jason Segel.
“I just thought it was some familiar thing that everybody knew!” Ford continued. “That’s the tune that Harrison hums whenever he walks in any room,” joked “Shrinking” co-creator Bill Lawrence.
The actor also shared that once, as he was going in for a colonoscopy, the song was playing in the operating room. Ford also didn’t pick up on the reference in the “Shrinking” Season 3 finale, during which he muttered, “choose wisely.” During the panel, Michael Urie let him know it’s from “Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade.” Ford hilariously responded, “Oh yeah!”
Lawrence also revealed that there’s a third “Indiana Jones” reference that people didn’t catch — a “Raiders of the Lost Ark” prop in the background of Paul’s trailer when Jimmy and Meg (Lily Rabe) are rummaging through it.

In addition to Ford, Segel, Urie and Lawrence, cast members including Jessica Williams, Luke Tennie, Ted McGinley and Lukita Maxwell took to the stage to talk all things Season 3 of “Shrinking,” which concluded on April 8.
When asked how they were going to top Season 3, Lawrence said, “Oh, you can’t. It’s only downhill from here.”
He continued: “No, look, with these actors and actresses it’s so exciting and nerve wracking in the writer’s room. … This is why we did it the way we did it, okay? We could’ve ended year four, year five with that scene between Paul and Jimmy, but what a fucking gift to try and come up [with something new]. We think we got something cool with a good, new story for each one of these actors and actresses to see where they go from here and jump ahead a little bit.”
Lawrence previously announced that Season 4 would be “a completely new story,” which he described as “scary/risky/fun” before adding that it would be “a new story with the same cast.”
